"The Gathering"
“The Gathering” Charter:
It is the purpose of “The Gathering” to inspire individuals as well as to mobilize partnerships that result in the empowerment of our young people and the entire community in the Springfield, Missouri region. “The Gathering” shall identify critical priority initiatives and issues that affect African American, minority and majority community progress in the Springfield area.
“The Gathering” participants, through their collaborative work, partnerships and action, will assess the current conditions of each priority initiative; develop appropriate and effective action plans; and implement such plans with established time lines and measures that concretely illustrate the success of the action plans.
All participants, members, and associates of “The Gathering” shall be committed to the collaborative structure, accountability and follow-up protocols required to achieve success in the identified and approved priority community initiatives. The initiatives shall be designed to result in the improvement of current conditions and opportunities for our young people and the general Springfield community.
“The Gathering” community initiatives shall also ensure that new individuals and families relocating, being employed within the Springfield region, and/or attending educational institutions therein are welcomed, engaged, and supported.
