"The Gathering"
The Vision of “The Gathering” is to have a Springfield Community where:
1. All persons have equal and adequate educational access, and are able to benefit fully from all educational opportunities so that all students are capable of reaching their optimal educational potential;
2. Affordable housing is available to all members of the community, including equal access to capital for financing for single family homeownership;
3. There are viable and well-paid jobs available for all individuals ready, willing, and able to work; increased entrepreneurship opportunities for all, and a well developed and trained workforce;
4. There is ample, affordable and equal access to health care and preventative health care becomes the standard practice of all citizens and residents;
5. There is equal justice under the law that includes access to competent legal representation; effective community policing; no racial profiling, and where all who are domiciled in Springfield, Missouri live in safe neighborhoods and are educated in safe schools;
6. All segments of the community participate fully in the electoral process, and have representation in local, state and federal government, at least, proportionate to their population in the community:
7. The racial digital divide is closed for young people from minority and impoverished backgrounds who are fully participating in the information-based, technology-driven marketplace with the necessary technological skill sets that ensure they are employable and contributing citizens and furthermore;
8. The Racial Divide, that historically has characterized significant aspects of life in the Springfield community, is eliminated.
